Labirint was one of the first apps in the world to use Instant Apps technology. Because of it Labirint was showcased at Google I/O 2017.

Our goal was to make the app into the best way to interact with the bookstore. Just like the iOS app already was. We used the experience from the iOS version but adapted our concept for the Android ecosystem. The next step — to keep evolving it and adding new features.

Labirint is one of the major bookstores in Russia and the only bookstore in top-25 Russian e-commerces. After the successful release of the iOS version we began adapting the concept for Android. A simple port was out of the question, we wanted to use everything the Android platform has to offer.

We decided to use Material Design but adapted it to better reflect what Labirint is about. Surf was also among the first in the world to use Instant Apps technology. The app was showcased on Google I/O stage in 2017.

Next step — adding visual search feature. It would help our users find any of the 250k catalogued books using just their cover.
